A career in football.

I was born in Brisbane in 1983 and was raised in Cairns playing all my junior football at Saints Soccer Club from 1990-2000.

In 2001, my amateur senior career began at merged club Edge Hill-Saints before moving south in 2002 to Sydney University in the New South Wales Winter Super League on a Warwick Segal university scholarship. I spent two seasons playing professionally for Marconi Stallions from 2002-2004 in the now defunct National Soccer League, before heading to FC National Bucharesti in Romania.

I was part of the Australian under-20 team at the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship in the UAE that defeated the crowned champions Brazil 4-3. I was also involved with the 2004 Olympic qualifying team, but did not make the final squad for the 2004 Olympics in Athens. I made my senior international debut for the Socceroos on the 9th October 2005 in a 5–0 win against Jamaica in London. I was a member of the Socceroos squad for our historic World Cup qualifying tie against Uruguay in November 2005 where we qualified for the World Cup in Germany 2006 for the first time in 32 years.

In 2006 I moved to Wisła Kraków in Poland on a Bosman transfer from Romania's Divizia A where I played in the UEFA Cup against AS Nancy, FC Basel and Feyenood. I then signed for SK Brann Bergen in Norway in January 2008 and was loaned to Melbourne Victory in the A-League mid-year after playing against Everton FC in the round of 32 of the UEFA Cup.

After winning the Pre-season Cup, Championship and Premiership with Melbourne Victory during the 2008-09 A-League season, I signed a 3-year deal with Gold Coast United after successfully negotiating a full transfer from SK Brann Bergen. On the 1st February 2011, I scored my first professional goal for Gold Coast United against my former club at Aurora Stadium in Tasmania.

Following the demise of Gold Coast United, I signed for Perth Glory and played there for four seasons from the 2012-13 A-League season. During that year I was selected as part of the PFA team of the year. I also featured in the All Stars match against Juventus during the 2013–14 A-League season. In the first two seasons of the FFA Cup we reached two consecutive FFA Cup finals with Perth Glory. I was a member of the Socceroos squad that qualified for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil playing in a World Cup qualifier against Oman in March 2013 in Sydney.

I joined Chinese Super League club Liaoning Whowin in January 2016 making 25 appearances and scoring 3 goals. In 2017 I was announced as part of the Perth Glory Member's Ultimate XI across 20 years from 1996-2016. Following changes to China’s foreign allowance, I was released and joined Western Sydney Wanderers for the 2017–18 A-League season. During this season I made my 200th A-League appearance in the Sydney derby on the 25th of February 2018 against Sydney FC.

From 2019 I will take on a playing, coaching and mentoring role with Gold Coast United in the Queensland National Premier League.
